Humperdinck, Engelbert

Engelbert Humperdinck(1854-1921), German composer, studied at the Cologne Conservatory and Munich Music School, winning Mozart and Mendelssohn prizes, Wagner invited him to be his assistant at Bayreuth, eventually Wagner's successor. He taught at Barcelona, Cologne, conducted at Cologne Theater and Bayreuth Festival. He composed 5 operas(Hansel und Gretel), incidental music, songs etc.
